Our ideas of gathering information have changed in the last decade, and I think we in the media have become slaves to presenting the news clip rather than the news story. The media has become so focused on getting viewers and user traffic instead of presenting hard news. We have sacrificed our journalistic integrity in order to appeal to the largest audience possible. We no longer want a large audience because we want to share with them; instead, we want a large audience because we want to profit from them. We have become an entertainment machine instead of an information machine. This must change if we want to preserve our ability to be trusted and inform the public instead of propagating chaos.
